A New Day... With Blessings Beyond Measure!

Miracle of Miracles… after over eighteen months, we had one of the mom’s in Haugan come to the trailer and visit! She is not a member or attendee at New Day (yet), but we were so very pleased that she was comfortable enough to come on her own and sit awhile! This was a huge victory in our eyes… Then after much, much prayer, planning, and preparation we closed on the building in St Regis on March 3rd. With the help of Glacier Southern Baptist Association, the Montana Baptist State Convention, and one of our New Day Network donors we had the funds needed to close on the abandoned Methodist Church building in St Regis… so, now we have a place from which to work and minister there! And the work begins… cleaning, setting up tables and chairs, and getting ready for our very first service on March 20th…

The Rock-N-Worship Road Show… On March 4th we took 4 teenagers and 2 adults to the Rock-N-Worship Road Show in Missoula. It was an amazing concert and the crowd was so large, they had to turn folks away… we got there with plenty of time to get a good seat. This was a great encouragement and a great way to get back in touch with some of the youth from St Regis.

Special Guests… visited in St Regis March 14-16 to look around and plan for a mission trip this summer. Youth/Mission Pastor, Jim Battles and Administrative/Senior Adult Pastor, Glen Stringham were a true blessing to meet and show around the valley. In a very short time, we felt like we had known them forever—fellow ministers and brothers in Christ!

Our First Week in the building in St Regis. On March 10th we sent a mailer out to all the homes in St Regis including rural routes. The next day we got a call from a lady in St Regis we had yet to meet. She shared how she had 5 children and her husband had walked out 5 weeks ago! Alan prayed with her and encouraged her to get her children in church. On Saturday the 19th, as we were cleaning and setting up for the first service she (we will call her Ann) dropped by to meet us, we let her talk and prayed with her again. Sure enough on Sunday morning she showed up with all her children! We had a solid beginning service with 15 attending. One lady was a member of the original Methodist church and she was so excited that a church was meeting in the building again. That afternoon about 3 pm we got another phone call… Ann wanted us to know that while we were all in church, her husband drove by, became convicted, they talked for a couple of hours and he was moving back home that night! On Monday we met with the both of them, listened, encouraged, and prayed with them. We believe they may very well be one of our core families! God is so amazing!

LIGHT Student Ministry… Begins in St Regis! When we arrived on Wednesday night Mar 23 there was no heat. Someone had stolen (siphoned) every drop of heating oil we had in the tank! But we set up anyway. Then as we were setting up we found out that two of our three core kids had an unscheduled drama rehearsal. And… we set up anyway.--They did come for pizza and the opening, but had to leave. (then they returned at the end—as soon as they could!) So, in all we had 7 teenagers show up! We rocked the house with contemporary praise music… ate our fill of pizza… had a great time… they really got into searching for Bible verses… studied the first of seven core values (Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and mind) and at the end two out of the seven indicated that they had prayed to receive Christ for the first time! …Hallelujah! (the same family whose father moved back home and family was restored!) Two others indicated interest in learning more about how to know Christ. God is So-o-o-o-o-o-o AWESOME!

Spring is in the Air… with the coming of “spring snows” and sunshine… we had a good turn-out for our Soup-N-More Day in Haugan. Excellent fellowship and excellent food included chicken wraps, soup, homemade bread and brownies. Then a hearty round of SkipBo was enjoyed by all…

Uganda Missions have extended the vision of New Day Network Ministry since January 2011. We thought you might be interested in what Alisha (our youngest daughter) and Abdul, are doing in Kampala, Uganda… so her March update is attached. It is a great joy and blessing to be a small part of God’s work there.

Newdaynet.net, our web site, has been upgraded and updated by our oldest daughter, Alana. She loves to use her talent and giftedness to help out her parents and other ministries. Extending Our Ministry Team… This week Gene & Pam Young have come to visit us in Haugan! We are showing them the entire valley and the work in Haugan and St Regis. They are seriously praying for God’s direction in regard to being a part of our Ministry Team here in the western mountains of Montana. Please pray with us for Gene & Pam!

Specific Prayer Requests:

1. That the Spirit of GOD would draw, convict, and convert many people for the kingdom of God. 2. That the Spirit of GOD would protect every aspect of this ministry from confusion and any ungodly influence or evil source.

3. That you would continually pray

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

“1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”

4. That the financial resources would flow from the storehouse of heaven in order to:

a. Provide funding for necessary furnishings, equipment, appliances, supplies, etc. in order to “set up” church.

b. Meet the monthly payment of $665 plus utilities ($250 per month has been pledged currently)

c. Provide budget funds for ministry throughout the year [literature, food, materials]

d. That God will ultimately provide $90,000 to pay off the building note as soon as possible so that we may use our resources for ministry in reaching this valley for Christ.

Without hesitation we have shared and will continue to share every need as it pertains to this work in Montana. Of course, the most important item that we need is your unending, never-ceasing prayerful intercession. Please pray with us for the victories God has in store for this valley. The Gospel story of western Montana has just begun to be written! It never ceases to amaze us that when we focus our attention and requests on the Father, He provides in such a way that He alone gets the glory… and, after all, isn’t that the way it is supposed to be? So, to God be glory, for the great things He has done, is doing, and has yet to do!

5. Another pressing need is funding our trip to Uganda for Alisha and Abdul’s wedding ceremony on August 6th. This month we received a phone call from a dear prayer warrior who offered air miles to go toward our air fare to Uganda. This was a great help toward the total cost and we consider it a huge blessing! They asked to remain anonymous, so we will honor that request and still give God the glory for His provision through His children!

A NEW DAY -- A NEW START!

We started the New Year by attending the Church Planter Conference in Anaconda. It was a really wonderful time of study, discussion, and fellowship with other church planters from around the state. Dave Howeth, our team leader for the state and his wife, Debbie, did such a wonderful job of organizing and implementing the weekend. Thanks for everyone who took the time to invest in our ministry and the work of Christ in Montana.


The snow continues to fall… but we still enjoy Soup Days each week. We were blessed to have Fred Hewett, Executive Director of the Montana Baptist Convention, visit and share a Soup Day with us in January. The ladies actually served brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and pie for desert. It was quite a feast and everyone enjoyed getting to know Bro. Fred.

Our Resource Center was able to help 3 regular families and 1 new family this month, as well as providing 3 new families with firewood for the first time! Things are working very smoothly so far and folks seem to be genuinely grateful. Please pray for these families, that the Lord will draw them to Himself and to the family at New Day Fellowship. Please pray for continued gifts to the center so we can provide for those in need. Alan heard from another couple in the area who indicated that they were seriously thinking about coming to services again (they have not attended since before we came to Haugan). So, please pray for them, too!

We also had a special blessing this month when we received thank you notes from three of the children that received Christmas gifts and the meal. We thought you might enjoy seeing the notes from these precious girls… please pray for Lauren, Sunny, & Breezy…

As you may know we have been praying about purchasing the abandoned Methodist church building located across from the school in St Regis. That plan has not changed. We are still asking God to provide the funds to purchase and furnish this awesome property! This month we proposed to lease the property for one year with the help of our association, the state convention, and other gifts as received. This will give us the time we need to possibly garner funds through various means to purchase the building by the end of this year. In taking possession of the property now we will have ample time to prepare for an official launch of New Day Fellowship, St Regis on Easter Sunday 2011! We have not heard back from the Realtor on the agreement, so please pray specifically for this.

As it stands today the building is completely empty, so we will need furnishings: chairs for the worship center, tables and chairs for the fellowship hall, and chairs and tables for the children’s class room. There is also a need for a refrigerator and a stand-alone freezer, kitchen supplies and utensils, at least one projector with screen for the worship center and a small sound system. I realize this is not an exact list, but we’ll try to provide more detail in the days ahead. We are asking for funds to be provided so we may order directly instead of having outrageous shipping costs for actual items.

So, here is what we need you to do specifically—PRAY WITH US! Then, share this need with your missions group, your small groups, anyone you think might want to “get radical” with the work of God in Montana! As impossible as it seems for us to raise funds to purchase a church building, it is even more impossible to reach these families with the Good News of Jesus. But, we believe HE will do both! As Brother Fred stated before leaving, “We absolutely want God to get the glory for this and thank Him ahead of time for what He will do.”

A New Day -- A New Decade!

A New Day – A New Decade!

A LOOK BACK - Can anyone really believe that another year is ending and a new decade beginning? Just the thought takes our breath away! As we look back over the past year, we marvel at all that God has accomplished…

FOR THE DAMRONS – Clearly 2010 was another year of surprises and challenges in every way! We had thought 2009 was the year for change, but in April we survived Alan’s hip surgery and recovery time… then, when Alisha came for a brief furlough in May, she surprised us with emergency gall bladder surgery—and we survived that! Then we both had sleep studies done and now are on CPAP machines in tandem! Oh, yes, it’s a sight to behold! June & July brought mission teams for both locations with greatly needed encouragement and ministry. August we prepared to launch a new community ministry and in September opened the New Day Resource Center in Haugan to distribute free food and clothing to those in need. It has been a great way to connect with folks we would not normally see. We are thankful to God for that. In October we celebrated the home-going of Alan’s dad and made a frantic run to Dallas and back for his memorial. And, of course, in November we made a 2-1/2 week trip through Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas to Corpus Christi for the Mission Service Corps Commissioning Service hosted by the North American Mission Board. We returned the Saturday before Thanksgiving and have not really stopped since, with all the Christmas holiday festivities to enjoy!

A LOOK AT HAUGAN…

NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP hosted the Second Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal at the Lincoln Hotel in Haugan. Not much traffic came through, but we served more than 20 people and had a great time of fellowship. One gentleman joined us this year to whom we had delivered a plate last year. Let us tell you briefly about Larry (not his real name) who lives alone up the mountain behind DeBorgia. We would occasionally see him at the Post Office and greet him, but he was not real talkative. Then the first month our Resource Center was opened, Larry came for food. He told us that he was diabetic and had not eaten in a week! We strongly believe he was telling the truth. We supplied him with food and told him to please, please never go without food again. Recently he had two toes surgically removed as a result of frost bite, but he seems to be doing much better. It has been a tremendous joy to build a relationship with Larry and begin to see him come out of his hermit shell! God is good!!!

Every holiday season often brings crisis and tragedy. This year was no different. One morning we received a phone call from Sharon who works at Lincoln’s that one of their employee’s and her family were in crisis and needed help. We ended up having them come to the church to discuss options. They lived with the husband’s mother and have a 17 year old son with Asperger’s Syndrome. The mother was basically throwing them out because she could not deal with it. We were able to put them in a hotel room for the night and fill their tank with gasoline to give them a little breathing room and make arrangements to rent a place in St Regis. It ended up being a good time of prayer and testimony with Mark & Mary (not their real names)…


No doubt, one of our very favorite things to do is prepare Christmas Baskets for needy families in our valley, including gifts for the kids… it is such a joy to remember the greatest Gift ever given with each crinkle of paper, snip of scissors, or swish of tape—and praying that every child will come to receive God’s Gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Last year we started with 5 families (including 6 children). This year we were able to share a full Christmas meal and gifts for the kids with 15 families (including 14 children)! Bless the Lord! O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name!


NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP FAMILY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION has got to be one of the most fun activities we host all year with both locations participating. The Sunday night before Christmas, we host a deluxe party with a full meal. We were so very excited this year to have two new couples from St Regis and our faithful single mom with her three teens and one of their friends. We also enjoyed friends from Wallace, ID; Saltese, MT -- even Larry , Mark & Mary came—and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves! The groups were divided into four “families” and challenged with several Christmas-type activities… it was great, festive fun and also included Carols and the Nativity Story! The winning family, of course, got to eat first!



Another highlight of our Christmas season is the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. We were so thankful to have several children and teenagers attend. As a matter of fact, two of the youth from St Regis—Thomas and Juliana—helped again this year with the program by sharing a song. They did a marvelous job! Robin helped us out with a lovely song and then the three Damrons and congregation intermingled some favorite Christmas songs with the Nativity Story. It was a wonderful service with New Day family from both locations!


The finale of the season is our Christmas Day Community Meal. This year instead of going back to the hotel, we hosted the meal in our Fellowship Hall, fed twenty folks—one from Saltese who had stopped coming in the fall, and Larry returned—what a blessing to see him relax and participate in activities.

A LOOK AT ST REGIS…

We were able to visit with two new couples in St Regis in the early weeks of December. They seemed genuinely interested in any activities for their children we could provide. And we have re-connected with a few youth via St Regis Basketball… we are waiting for some home games! We are making some headway on the purchase of the abandoned Methodist Church building across from the school. As a matter of fact, our Glacier Southern Baptist Association and the Montana State Convention are assisting us in making our proposal this week and getting into the building possibly in late January! What an answer to prayer when this takes place… then we will only need furnishings and utilities! Hey, if God can acquire the building, surely He can provide the remaining needs. We are trusting Him and Him alone for every day, every detail, every victory!

A New Day – A New Opportunity

November has been an unusual month with new opportunities…

On November 4th we packed the Excursion and headed south to touch base with several of our friends, family, and supporters—on the way to Corpus Christi, Texas for the North American Mission Board’s Mission Service Corps Training and Commissioning Service (Nov 14-16). Stan & Diana Bricker were so kind to allow us to stay at the Montana Southern Baptist Convention’s mission apartment on our way through Billings. This was a huge help as we began our journey.

Our first stop was Wichita, Kansas where we were able to see very dear and long time friends: Pastor Dan & Kathy Anderson and Tom & Vicki Edwards who serve as Director of Missions in that area. Alan was privileged to preach at the Prairie Hills Baptist Church where Dan & Kathy serve. Two individuals indicated a profession of faith by the raising of their hand. One came forward to share with Pastor Dan--we are praying for the other person. God is at work and we praise Him for it.
As we left Kansas, we took a “pit stop” in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Alan’s sister, Gail. Then we drove on to Sapulpa, Oklahoma for an over-night visit with his other sister, LaDonne and her family. Thanks, Henry & LaDonne for that delicious meal at Carino’s!

Our next stop was in Springdale, Arkansas where we were honored to meet with the Pastor of our “sending” church (Dr. Cliff Jenkins, Pastor of New Hope Fellowship), his wife, Carol and several of his flock. This church has supported us from the beginning of our “total faith trek” and we are so grateful for their desire to help us accomplish God’s kingdom work. Thanks, Bro. Cliff and New Hope, for understanding that “Radical” is more than just a book! We also enjoyed fellowship with several couples from our previous church in the area and enjoyed the fellowship and encouragement tremendously! Thanks to one and all! (Sorry I forgot to get my camera out for you!)

We were so-o-o-o-o excited to see our BFFs--even from long distance--Jim & Sandra McCoy. We love you guys… now it’s your turn to come north! We even checked on our storage unit—yes, all our earthly possessions are stacked and cramped, but still there! And before we left town we caught up with good friends Rocky & Lori Bell and their son, Kyle (KB!) Rocky is the pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Hindsville, Arkansas who graciously support us monthly. Thank you all for your prayers and support!

Then we continued further south to Central Texas where we had a brief, but wonderful time with Sarah’s father, sisters and their families. We can never get enough Barton-Jordan-Scarborough time and hugs! Some of our favorite fellow-ministers, Nathan and Shannon Emert and their boys Levi & Ben, met us for some Pizza in Austin! It was so good to see them and catch up on what God is doing in their lives.

Finally, it was on to Corpus Christi and the main reason for the trip. We spent two days in training for Mission Service Corps personnel and we even got a NAMB royal blue shirt! It was an encouraging time and a joy to meet other missionaries from the northern USA and Canada. The view from our 16th floor hotel room was spectacular indeed. There were three couples representing Montana for this Commissioning Service. Of course, you probably recognize us on the left, then Dennis & Gail Iley from Manhattan, MT and Kelly & Erika Mitchell for Thompson Lake Baptist Encampment. Kelly & Erika are in our Glacier Southern Baptist Association, so it was fun to spend some time with them. But, it was our first time to meet Dennis & Gail, who are not that far from us (in Montana miles!) We had a great time getting to know them. Please pray for all the MSC personnel who were trained this week and their ministries. Finally, we were overjoyed to have time with Gene & Pam Young who were members of one of our previous churches in Conroe, Texas. They attended the convention in Corpus and took time to visit with us about the work in Montana. They have recently surrendered to the Lord’s call to full time service and we are praying with them for God’s direction and peace in that pursuit.

The morning after the Commissioning Service we packed up and headed straight north. It took a day and a half just to get out of Texas, of course no surprise there (wind turbines in West Texas and Panhandle)! We tried to get back to Montana before the winter weather hit, but we didn’t quite beat it! It took us 13 hours to get from Billings to Haugan which is usually about a 6-7 hour drive. It was quite a ride!!!

But, we did make it back safely late on the 20th and just in time for Thanksgiving week! It was so great to be back with our New Day family on Sunday. Then on Monday Sarah braved the snowy canyon and drove to St Regis to get the remaining supplies for the Thanksgiving Baskets. Tuesday we had lots of help to assemble and deliver Thanksgiving Baskets for TEN needy families! It was a great day, without a doubt.



On Thanksgiving Day New Day Fellowship provided a second annual Community Thanksgiving Meal at the Lincoln Hotel. Melba DeGoines (newly arrived from West Virginia) and Sally Wright (in from Washington) took charge of the set up; and John Carpenter did the professional turkey carving. We served 22 meals, including the hotel staff and the C-Store staff and enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship. The lady who came in to work the hotel desk for the 3 pm shift said as she came through the door, “I’ve been looking forward to coming to work all day, so I can eat this meal!” We all got a good chuckle, but it was encouraging, too! Holidays are here -- our time and our hearts are filled to the fullest!

You may notice that the majority of the pictures in this update are of PEOPLE. Just a reminder that it takes PEOPLE partnering together to help PEOPLE understand and receive the message of Jesus Christ and His love.

A New Day -- With Much To Do!

The Journey According to… Haugan!

We continue to see improvement in the relationship of this church with our community. One of the ladies here (a staunch Mormon) who did not want anything to do with our church when we first arrived has started coming with her husband to our weekly Thursday Soup Day. Several weeks ago she came early. As Sarah cooked and prepared to serve, she began asking some very serious questions before others arrived. Sarah was honest and open with her, answering every question directly, sharing our journey of complete faith since arriving in Montana. Please pray for this woman we will call Jane, that the testimony shared will bring fruit in her life toward a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.

One of our most fervent prayers is for other believers who will help in the work here. Quite possibly Wayne & Melba Degoines are one answer to this prayer. They moved to DeBorgia about 4 weeks ago and have been to services regularly, helped with the Resource Center and several repair projects. Thank you, Lord, for this new couple, their giftedness, and desire to serve You.

Another couple who visit from Washington about once a month attended recently. As the Lord would have it, Alan is preaching through the Gospel of John. That particular morning was on the Wedding in Cana. We covered the sanctity of marriage and the sin of alcoholism. Providentially, this couple is not married, and he is an alcoholic. Yet, they continue to appear hungry spiritually. Please pray for Pete & Pam. We love them already and desire to see God do a great work of healing, restoration, and salvation in their lives.

The Resource Center was open again this week and we were able to assist six different families or individuals. One family first came to New Day Fellowship on Easter Sunday this last year, so we are continuing to build relationship with them. Please continue to pray for Ray, Spring and their son, Duane. Then a man we will call Larry arrived. He is diabetic, alone, had not eaten in a week and never been anywhere near the church building! We were able to find him a few shirts and then provide a box of food for him and asked him to never, ever go without food again. Although we may not always have much, we made it clear that we are happy to share what we have. Please pray for Larry, he is having two toes removed next week in Seattle. Then, one of the teenage boys in the area actually came to the Center—brought a donation and asked if he could look for some clothes. This was an amazing gift… that he would feel comfortable enough to come on his own.


Many of you know that in the midst of ministry this last month, Alan’s father went home to heaven on October 3rd. We made a very quick run to Dallas for the memorial service. It was a bittersweet blessing and we thank the Lord for allowing us to go and are grateful to all who made it financially possible.

Of course, one of our greatest joys is the prayer garden/fire pit next to the church. We enjoyed a bonfire and fellowship time Saturday evening with 13 here from around the community! Hot dogs, chili, brownies, and pie—what more do you want? One more event for Haugan… this week the ladies are going to their very first ever Beth Moore conference in Spokane—thanks to the generous assistance from the ladies at New Hope Fellowship in Springdale, AR! We will have much to share in our next update on this!


The Journey according to… St Regis!

Alan met with the St Regis Community Board in October. They approved our use of the building for another 3 months. He decided to stay for the entire meeting and they got into quite a heated discussion about selling beer at an upcoming event they were sponsoring. The advocates for the beer were adamant about making a good profit. But the vote was tied. So, the chairman turned and said, “I’d like to hear what the preacher has to say.” (Are you sure?) Of course, Alan was able to give a clear, biblical opinion and urged them to consider if that is what they really wanted to be known for, since beer is readily available everywhere in town? The vote was taken again and failed!

This week we were able to take some food and a small gift of cash to one of our single moms in St Regis. She works about three jobs and still struggles. Her children are very active athletically and she was having to rustle some food together for them before a ballgame that night. We didn’t know, but the LORD certainly did! It was really good timing. Thank You, Lord!

We know there is so much more to do and accomplish, but we also see the Lord working in someone’s life every week! Please continue to pray with us for souls to be saved in this valley!

It's A New Day... To Help Others!

NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP, HAUGAN

THE RESOURCE CENTER finally opened on Sept 16th! We have a good stock of clothing and coats from which to choose. We were able to help three families and two individuals with clothing, food, or both. It was a very positive day and we are praying that these families will help spread the word for next month. Many in the community are asking, so hopefully they will come. Since we are NOT going to use government programs to provide for the Resource Center, we are so thankful for one of our sister churches in Missoula, Meadowview Community Church, who also collected clothing and food for the Resource Center. We are so very grateful for their kind and generous participation.



Things continue to move slowly, but bit by bit we see improvement in the relationship of the church with the community. One of the ladies here who did not want her mother to come to our community lunches on Thursdays recently brought her daughter who is in her first year of college to the Resource Center to look for clothes. We had a nice visit as they perused through the racks. This was a positive contact and a great victory in our eyes!

Another lady who attends services faithfully came to us on Sunday and said how thankful she is that God brought us here. That was a precious word of encouragement! Another lady stated after the first night of the Women’s Bible Study, “My husband is always drunk. I don’t know what I would do without you ladies and this church!” Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!!!


NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP, ST REGIS

We are still praying about a more permanent facility in which to meet and the possibility of acquiring the former Methodist church located directly across the street from the High School. We want to keep this before you as a vital prayer petition.

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9"Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?
10"Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?

how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”

GLACIER SOUTHERN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION

Saturday we were able to participate in the annual meeting for our Glacier Southern Baptist Association in Troy, Montana. Our time with other pastors, church planters, and fellow-laborers in western Montana is always such a blessing and encouragement! Bro. Sam Birky, Associational Missionary, gives such wonderful and uplifting leadership. We are so grateful to God for him and the pastors and churches in the Glacier Association.

ALWAYS THE UNEXPECTED...
We waited all summer to replace a broken computer board in our heating unit. Then when it was replaced we (well, actually Mr. John) discovered that the heater box was cracked and had to be repaired (whatever that is!) Anyway, 3 months and $600+ later, it is fixed and we are ready for winter to come… and it has already been a great blessing with early mornings in the 40s for a couple of weeks now. We praise God for it, and now ask that you pray with us for God’s provision for monthly expenses that this money would have normally covered… Always! Something! Unexpected!

A NEW DAY -- TO CELEBRATE!

CELEBRATE IN HAUGAN. The first Sunday of August completed our first year as NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP in Haugan and our first year serving as Pastor in the “west end”. A wonderful day of celebration was enjoyed as we worshipped, strolled through the yearly highlights via Power Point, and ate pot luck lunch together. We remembered how we began with what we call “the fabulous four”! This year we celebrated with thirteen in attendance! Praise the Lord! One of the men who came shared that it had been 27 years since he had attended a church service… he has made steps all summer beginning with our first mission team from Springdale, attending men’s breakfast on Tuesday mornings, Soup Day on Thursdays, working on projects around the church… and finally into a service! We believe spiritual renewal is beginning in Mike’s life and trust God to continue when he returns to teaching in Washington at end of summer.

As a matter of fact, in preparation for “I Love HIS Church Day”-1 Yr Anniversary Celebration, Mike & Sally Wright and Vern Herman worked tirelessly to plant flowers in the front of the church and laid out rock for decoration. When all was done and we stood back to look at their work (see picture above) we noticed that the rock was laid out in the shape of a cross -- it really looks nice and we thank God for their work and their renewed desire to grow in Him!

One of the best things we did all summer was a DVD study produced by Saddleback Church in California called, “Life’s Healing Choices”. This was a series from the Beatitudes in the book of Matthew. Clear and simple choices which we explored and discussed each week with the idea of being able to share these choices with others—everyone makes choices! Although we averaged ten in attendance, 17 different individuals joined us throughout the month. Thank You, Lord!

Other celebrations included Vern Herman’s Birthday party! His brothers came in, church members joined in, brought pot luck… we had a wonderful evening with friends, lots of food, fun, and a special cake! Mr. Vern is our only male type official church member, has been here for 13+ years and a mighty prayer warrior and man of God! We love you, Mr. Vern and thank God for you. Happy 82 years young!

We continue to prepare for the opening of our Food Pantry/Clothes Closet which we are calling the NEW DAY RESOURCE CENTER. We have received donations from members, non-church members, folks from Plains, Olympia, Washington, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Springdale, Arkansas and Austin, Texas! We will open our doors on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month from 3-5 PM beginning in September. But we have already been able to help several families before the official opening—God is so good!

A Dream comes true… It has been Vern’s dream for many years now to have a prayer garden beside the church in Haugan… Well, our New Prayer Garden is pretty much complete. Just today Vern, Mike & Sally Wright, John Carpenter, and Alan put the last touches on it… the Cross is now installed -- standing strong as a sentinel over the Prayer Garden. Our deepest gratitude to the Lord Jesus Christ, and our heartfelt thanks for the help of New Hope Mission Team and Southwood Mission Team in seeing this dream come true. It. Is. Finished!

CELEBRATE IN ST REGIS. The group in St Regis continues to evolve from week to week. We have averaged 8 in the last month with 18 different individuals joining us at one time or another! One week everyone showed up on one Sunday and we had 14! The meeting room was filled to capacity. A new couple has moved into St Regis from Washington (front right). Fred and Barb drove by the church in Haugan on a Saturday and stopped to visit. We talked for about an hour and they have been in services for the last two weeks. We continue to pray for workers to help us and open doors for relationship building. Thank You, Lord, for Fred and Barb and all our band of believers in St Regis.

We got a call this week from St Regis Schools. They had a clothing swap event in the cafeteria with tables of clothing left, so they asked if we wanted them for the Clothes Closet we will open in the West End in September. This was such an unexpected blessing! The Excursion was filled--top to bottom, front to back--with sacks of clothing, already separated and sized! Plus, we were able to meet the head of maintenance and several high school boys who helped sack and load the clothing. This was a great opportunity!

CELEBRATE ANSWERED PRAYER! After Alan’s hip replacement surgery, we decided to apply for hardship assistance with the hospital. Without question God has blessed—this week we received notice that our assistance had been approved at 100%! THANK YOU, LORD AND ST. PATRICK’S HOSPITAL! We now only have to deal with the surgeon, labs, and anesthesiologist’s expenses. What a significant gift and answer to prayer.


CELEBRATE WITH THE DAMRONS… Alan, Sarah, Alana & Alisha are also celebrating family! Seruyange Abdul called us this week to ask our blessing for he and Alisha to be married. He sounded just a bit nervous, but we welcomed him into our family as a gift from God. We celebrate Alisha and Abdul as a couple and the calling of God on their lives together. Please pray with us as we all prepare and look forward to the wedding ceremony next summer. Also, we ask you to pray with us that God will provide financially for us to make the trip. WE LOVE YOU, ALISHA AND ABDUL… AND CAN NOT WAIT TO GET OUR ARMS AROUND YOU BOTH!!!
