A New Day -- A Day of Joy!

A most amazing gift of joy this year is our first grandchild, Miss Micaiah Malin, born to Abdul and Alisha Damron Seruyange in Kampala, Uganda, East Africa on December 15th! She weighed in at about 6 lbs and is a tiny bundle of great joy! We are so excited and so proud of this new,
young family.

A gift of life and the reality of death. Although this may sound strange to many folks, we are rejoicing at our first invitation to do a memorial service locally. Alan was not able to physically go and do this, but Gene went and did a fine job. In our community most folks will just do a wake and not have a church or minister involved in any way. To contact a church or minister at a time of death for most citizens here is quite unusual. So, we praise Him for this open door of opportunity!

We also rejoice with those who are interested in the work here in western Montana to such a degree that they will do something practical and substantial to help us! The St Regis Schools divided the proceeds from their canned good drive in November to the three churches in
the town. So this helped us with our Food Pantry in December. Then, one of our sister churches in Missoula, Meadowview Community Church, collected staples and food stuffs through November and gave it all to us for the December Pantry. We were so excited to be able to give a generous and abundant food supply for each family in December. We also were able to assist a brand new family in St Regis. Thank you, Lord, for touching hearts to help us!

One of our ladies who attends in St Regis had a prayer for more work hours answered in early December. On Wednesday she said, “It is amazing what can happen when you start to tithe.” YES! Her family had just recently begun to tithe as a result of one of the messages in November.
God is so good to allow us to see His “root building” work.

We finally came up with a new approach for LIGHT on Wednesday nights. Although Alan had talked with school officials last year to see what one night in the week would be free for church activities, it has not worked out as they had indicated. So, we just moved our time to later in the evening on Wednesday and last week we had 3 new youth! AMEN and AMEN! Please pray with us for the teens in this valley. There is just so very little for them other than school, and we are pretty sure there is even less spiritual nurture! We enjoyed pizza, of course, a rousing game of “Apples to Oranges” and then delved into another lesson of “Hard Questions for Christians”.


Another great joy in the Christmas Season for New Day Fellowship is the distribution of Christmas Baskets filled with food for a Christmas Day meal. This year we were able to supply food for eleven families. One man called on the day of distribution and asked if we had enough
for his family—he had been seriously injured earlier this year when he fell off of a roof and landed on both feet which shattered every bone. He went through several surgeries and although it was doubtful he would ever walk again, he is now walking with a slight limp--indeed a walking miracle! Of course, we had enough to add his family and thank the Lord we could!


A favorite event for the holidays was our Third Annual New Day Fellowship Family Christmas--31 attended with a couple of new families—that is always exciting! For the first time we had 12 children (from teens to 6 yrs old) who really had a great time. It was also a group combined of both Haugan and St Regis locations. The father of one of the families is the man who two and half years ago met Alan, poked him in the chest, and said “I hate your church, I hate you, and I will never come there.” God must have done a great work because he and his family came on Easter and now returned for the Christmas party! Maybe this doesn’t seem like much, but it
is a major victory to us! This is just such a great time of fellowship, lots of fun, delicious food, and a wonderful opportunity for those who don’t attend to come, feel welcome and enjoy themselves! A couple of our ladies in Haugan prepared all the food and helped Alan and Gene with set up since Sarah fell on the ice on the previous Thursday and was out of commission through the weekend. We are so thankful for their service and willingness to make this party happen. We can’t give away all our secrets, but it is probably our favorite event of the year!

Many of you know Mr. Vern, who was one of our fabulous four beginning members and the heart and soul of God’s work in this community. Vern is battling some serious health issues right now and has gone to stay with his younger brother in Spokane until some things can be resolved.
We miss him terribly. Will you please pray with us for Vern? He is such a precious part of New Day Family, a clear intentional witness in this valley, and one of our fabulously favorite folks!

* Thankful that Sarah did not break her ankle, but only has a severe sprain.

A NEW DAY... WITH HEARTS OF PRAISE!

There is just no god like our God!

He is Faithful and True, from Everlasting to Everlasting,
the Alpha and Omega, our Creator, Sustainer,
and worthy of all praise!

We are so thankful for another year coming to a close, as we continue the work in November and December here in the West End. We are thankful to see God at work in many lives throughout this valley. We are thankful for each of you who love us, pray for us, and regularly support us.
Our God is an awesome God!

How thankful we are to have hosted two new visitors this month at Soup Day! This is a weekly event that the folks here in Haugan really enjoy. A good time of fellowship, food (of course), and a non-threatening place to bring others. One gentleman who was practically a hermit up on the mountain when we first moved here, now rarely misses Soup Day and has come to services twice in the last few weeks. His attitude and interaction with others has changed so much. We see God at work... and praise Him!

And, of course, what would November be in Montana without... snow? It has been snowing consistently for several days, although not heavy all the time... It is truly amazing—the majestic handiwork of our Father and Lord. Although there are always some challenges involved, it is a
joy to live in this winter wonderland...



We are even thankful for knee replacement surgery and a basement we call “home” in which to recover. It makes a pretty narrow fellowship hall, but our New Day Fellowship family are so gracious and encouraging. We call it our “tabernacle in the basement”! With a full kitchen, handicapped restroom, shower, washer-dryer unit, and plenty of room for a walker, this has been a real blessing for Alan’s recovery. We have made it through two weeks, probably the roughest time of the whole ordeal, but God is Faithful and is seeing us through moment by moment.

We are ever grateful for God’s provision through our friends, family, and supporters. Because many of you gave extra to New Day Network Ministry this year, we were able to distribute ten Thanksgiving Baskets to needy families: 7 in Haugan (that’s “hoggin” not “howgin”!), 2 in St Regis, and even 1 in Superior! Pam, Sharon, and Sarah drove to Missoula on Friday in a snow storm to get all the supplies for the gift meals: turkey with all the trimmings. At WalMart they talked with the manager and after filling out some paperwork, were given a $50 gift card against their purchases. This blessing allowed them to buy for all the baskets and the community meal and still be under budget! It took most of the day and from Superior to Haugan it was 30-35 mph driving in a near white out with a bit of slipping and sliding even with the snow tires. But the ladies persevered and returned safely with the bounty. Then Saturday morning Pam, Melba, Joyce, and Sarah assembled the baskets and prepared them for distribution. Pam & Gene took the baskets for St Regis and Superior to St Regis for pick up at NDF there, and the others remained in Haugan for pick up that afternoon. This was our first year to have the families
come to the church to pick them up, most of them we see each month for Food Pantry, so it was another good touch of God’s love with these needy families and individuals.

We give thanks to the Lord for what He is doing in St Regis... this month we have been able to include several families in our Thanksgiving Basket delivery and also provide some wood. Our wood pile is already fairly low since it snowed so early! One of our newest families has
really gotten involved, as the father is assisting with the sound equipment and stage set up. We now have a keyboard player and third singing part... drums are set up and soon we will add drums to the worship mix! WOW! God is just overwhelming us with His blessings and grace. One of the most significant things to happen was a call from the St Regis School District this week. They host a canned food drive during November and included our Resource Center as one of the places to share the supply. So, we have been gifted with some additional canned
goods for next month. Amen and Amen! Thanks, Mr. Gene, for picking up the food
and bringing it to Haugan for us!

And, of course, it goes without saying that our 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Meal was another day of celebration and a highlight for the month! Our ladies cooked turkey with all the trimmings--we added a ham this year and always try to decorate and make everything inviting.
This is held in the lobby of the Silver Dollar Hotel in Haugan. We had lots of help this year setting up tables and setting out food and were rewarded with the blessing of serving 34 meals. Several truckers came through and joined us. One man brings his mother every year, but this was his first year to stay and eat, so that was a Praise the Lord! Then a few folks from the community joined in and we met a new couple who just moved to DeBorgia. They want to visit church soon. So, please pray that they will follow up on that desire! All in all, it was a great day, even though Bro. Alan was not able to get there this year, Gene & Pam were troopers in seeing it through. Sharon, Joyce, the Lewis family, and others helped to make the day a huge success and another “good” touch for New Day Fellowship in our community. The Lord be praised today and always! We have so much for which to be thankful...

It is always a joy to share about our girls. Folks ask us about them all the time... no, really! We are proud of our girls and now our new son in Uganda. Alana is living in Louisville, Kentucky—working part time at Springdale Community Church and doing freelance photography part time. God has gifted her in so many ways and our hearts almost burst with love and pride in the work she is doing... often helping with youth and ministering in worship and other unexpected ways.

We are also thankful for the work and ministry of our new son-in-law, Abdul and daughter,
Alisha in Uganda. We can’t pass up sharing one of their latest stories, so you can rejoice with us all!

TERRA NOVA: STANDING FOR THE TRUTH. Abdul was able to visit 3 of our soccer players at school. With the academic year ending in just a few weeks, we wanted to check in and see how our players are doing at the schools where they have earned scholarships. At Kiboga Progressive Secondary School—a 3 hour taxi ride from downtown—Abdul arrived to find Frank, John and Willy ready and waiting at the gate to see their coach. I stayed home being a little too pregnant to make a long taxi ride on Ugandan roads, but sent some brownies and lots of love. At lunch the boys began to talk openly about “something that was not right.” The players on the school soccer team have been forced to bow down to a certain mountain in spirit worship to win games. Those unwilling to participate in this ancestor worship would be cursed and not allowed to play. Our boys were the only students who refused to participate. They have been sitting out from games and receiving criticism and questions from classmates. Of course, this most likely means we’ll be looking for a new school partnership for these players to transfer next year, but Abdul beamed with pride that our Terra Nova boys were choosing to do the unpopular thing in order to stand up for the Truth. And it’s costing them their passion—soccer. I was stunned. Now, I’m also worried for them, praying for God’s protection to cover them like a blanket, but then I just go back to beaming. In all the muddy waters of Ugandan corruption, evil, greed, deception and hopelessness, God is raising up young people to change their world. We are so excited to be part of this transformation. And in this process, we too are being transformed. Thanks be to God for Ugandan youth who teach us that change IS possible.

A NEW DAY... A Time To Return...

First, Let us return to the end of summer and feature our final mission team from Smithwood Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. A small exploratory team came to Haugan while we were still in Uganda. Gene, Pam, and Vern hosted this team and showed them both locations and some of the needs we have. These men were gracious to do some wood cutting and stacking for our winter wood supply. We are so grateful for their help, consideration, and prayers!

On the first Sunday of each month we enjoy a meal with combined locations. This month we hosted a cook out in Haugan and had a great turn out from both churches. We even returned to the big camp fire in the prayer garden. This is such a great blessing for us and we appreciate the mission teams from our first year who helped clear out the place and then construct the fire pit.

One of the things we truly appreciate about Montana is our Montana State Baptist Convention of churches and pastors. We are a close-knit group with gifted and encouraging leadership in Bro. Fred, Dave, Stan, and Sam. There are no ladders to climb here... no competition between churches and pastors... we are all on the same battlefield striving to be what God wants us to be and allowing Him to use us to dispel the spiritual darkness in this place. We are so blessed to be part of this group of fellow-ministers and always enjoy times of fellowship together. This year’s annual meeting was an incredible time of fellowship, training, and encouragement.

We just have to include a couple of personal stories. Do you remember the young girl who visited LIGHT one Wednesday and her first question was if she could curse in church?! We try to speak to her any time we see her in town or at school activities. Well, we ran into her last week at a community event. It was cold and rainy and she was without a coat. One of our mission teams had brought a bag of brand new coats from Kohl’s this summer and we still had 4 in our truck to give away. She came over and visited a few minutes, found a coat to fit and seemed very grateful.
We then got to briefly meet her mother and let them know we had been praying for the younger son who had been seriously injured in a wood cutting accident. This was a divine relationship-building contact for which we are thankful and continue to pray for this girl and her family.


We had to rejoice together this Sunday when Mr. Leroy finally came to services in Haugan! He is the older gentleman who lives more or less as a hermit on the mountain above DeBorgia. About a year ago he began to come to the Food Pantry each month and to Soup Days every week unless he was in the hospital. Several of our couples have been helping him with wood for the winter and taking food if he is unable to get here. Also we had bee visiting him in the hospital off and on. Found out he had been saved as a young man, but had just walked away from the Lord and isolated himself from everything and everyone. So, it was a great thrill to see him come on Sunday morning. Please help us pray that he will continue to make progress in body and spirit!



Ladies’ Nite Out was a real treat for us! Sorry guys, this was ladies only time. We opted for a “fall harvest” theme with 17 ladies coming out to enjoy themselves. It was a night for deluxe chicken tortilla soup with chips and cheese, key lime or chocolate turtle cream pie, lip gloss for all, and give-aways! A little bit of personal tid-bits around each table and just chat time. Then we delved into a Scripture Activity revealing Satan’s lies vs. God’s Truth. Followed by a study in I Chronicles 28:1-10 with a focus on verse 9 and How to Become a Woman After God’s Own Heart: 1) Acknowledge God; 2) Give God your whole heart; and 3) Serve God with a willing spirit. You get the idea...

And, of course, Fall Returns... the majestic, awesome handiwork of God surrounds us and we are always mindful of it. However, as the trees turn and the leaves change colors the Providential artwork takes our breath away! We never get tired of the changing seasons. And, of course, it also means that snow is on its way! We are facing our third winter in the 5th wheel and have done what preparation we can to get ready for this winter season. Our God is an AWESOME GOD!

We currently have food supplies for 1 full basket, 2 partial baskets, and funds for 4 additional baskets. So, we have a way to go to meet the needs and our goal. We are taking donations of $28 per individual or couple and $50 per family of 4 or more.

A NEW DAY... A SPECIAL JOY!

The weekend following our return from Uganda, we hosted a cookout with folks from both locations who enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, baked beans, and lots of deluxe desserts! It was a really great time, we built a fire and sat around telling stories and enjoying one another.

Then on September 10th we were blessed to assist in the marriage ceremony of Tony & Shanny Sigsby. They are a precious young couple who have been attending New Day Fellowship in St Regis since we launched in March this year. Their daughter, McKenzie, is in our New Day Preschool Class on Sunday mornings and her twin brother and sister, Laramie and Alexius, are now in the nursery area! This was a great testimony for many couples in western Montana and a huge encouragement to our New Day Family!

We got a call from Dave Howeth, our state Church Planting Leader, who said he was bringing us a sound system! WOW, we had been praying for one, but this was totally a gift from God! Now we are trying to learn how to use it effectively! God is so good and continues to send more laborers to help with the work in St Regis...

We can’t help but tell you about a couple of guys the Lord brought our way this summer. One we will call Larry (retired military) attended regularly while here. After visiting with Gene and Alan, he also participated in the men’s breakfast each week. In talking with the guys Larry was not sure God could forgive him because he had been a sniper in the military. He really struggled with his need for forgiveness and God’s willingness to give it. Before he left for home, to take care of some personal issues and hopefully return to live in Haugan, he received the forgiveness he so longed for—and thanked New Day Fellowship for being his friends.

Another fellow who says he is a believer had about a two hour conversation with Alan on the phone beginning with the premise that Jesus cannot be God. It was a long struggle, Alan kept having him go to his Bible and look up certain Scriptures to read for himself (I kept quietly praying)... at long last, he realized his mistake and we believe he is a step closer to being where God wants him to be. Please pray for both of these men who desperately need God to be in control of their lives.

Of course, one of our greatest joys this month was to baptize two teenagers and two adult ladies. We had a combined evening service on September 25th with singing, baptisms, and a dessert fellowship. We had a good crowd and celebrated with Cheyenne, Dallas, Christina, and Melba. Hallelujah, thank You, Lord!

A New Day... A World Away!

Hopefully most of you realize that we just spent five weeks in Uganda with Alisha and Abdul—the entire month of August! This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us to be able to spend the time with family, new friends, teaching, preaching, sharing, dreaming, and planning for Terra Nova Academy and what part New Day Network may be able to play in ministry across the globe.

Our flight to London from Seattle was less than pleasant, but we arrived in Uganda safely. Abdul and Alisha met us at the airport—what a true joy to get our arms around them both and to finally meet our new son-in-law! Strangely enough, the first “rattle out of the box” Alan was able to share with our young Muslim driver who was also Abdul’s cousin. Alisha was feeling really ill when they picked us up, so we drove directly to the clinic for her to see a doctor. During the couple of hours it took, Alan visited with our driver, Sula. He said, “Dad, I have been thinking I should consider becoming a Christian...” Please pray with us for Sula, we did not see him again during our stay.

There are so many stories to tell, but we will have to just do some of the highlights. The cottage in Gabba was a beautiful and quiet location overlooking Lake Victoria where we stayed until after the wedding ceremony. Just hanging out and spending time with Alisha and Abdul was an indescribable gift. For those who may be confused, they were legally married in the Ugandan legal system in January, but really wanted Alan to do a sacred ceremony for them. In May we found out we will be grandparents this year! I was able to go with Alisha and Abdul to the hospital where the delivery will take place and heard my grandbaby’s heart beat! Oh, my... indeed, “we are fearfully and wonderfully made”!

On Tuesday, August 2nd Alan was invited to teach a two-hour session at the International School of Missions, a local school for pastors. This was such a precious time for us. Although there is mostly Pentecostal and Catholic influences in Kampala, these pastor’s heard some solid preaching on making disciple-makers. There was a brief Q and A time at the end which was quite enlightening. Alisha taught a class last semester at the school, and she assured us that much of what her Dad shared was completely new concepts to these Ugandan pastors. As a result of this class time, one of the young Pastors arranged for a conference the week after the wedding with about 30 local pastors in his area. There were two adult choirs and a children’s choir at this conference... an hour and one-half into the service Alan finally was able to preach through an interpreter—a precious young woman named Mariam. It was QUITE a cultural experience and blessing!

Of course, the grandest highlight of all was... the wedding. Preparation was intense at times, but it was “all hands on deck” for decorations, cake baking, and all things wedding! We believe it turned out to be a marvelous day of celebration... and a time of intentional testimony as Abdul spoke to the men at his reception about having one wife and honoring God... yep, that’s our new son and we agree with Alisha that he is definitely a KEEPER!

We also learned a great deal about the game of soccer. Who knew? We went with Abdul to watch an Arsenal match one night at a local sports pub... we only had Sprite and Diet Coke, so don’t panic! Terra Nova Soccer Academy was in session during our stay and we got to meet all of Abdul’s players, helped to host the first annual Terra Nova Soccer Cup Tournament the week of our departure, and came to love each and every one of those young men. Abdul has worked with a good number of these boys for 3-4 years and they really listen to him and respect him and are learning team work and integrity. It was a true joy to watch them play and get to share in their journey for a few days.
And now we are back home in Montana... ready to see God do great and mighty things in this valley! Your partnership in our journey is a great treasure to us --we would love to hear from YOU and what the Lord is doing where you live!

A New Day – A New Perspective

After two years of hard work, ministry, and developing relationships we are beginning to see some fruit from the Lord! Our two mission teams so far this summer have helped us make incredible inroads in the community. It is hard to know where to start! But, here we go...
Not just a name or a phrase... it is a whole new perspective... it truly is a New Day in Haugan, MT! Our first mission team from FBC Mixon, TX did a bang up job, working on projects and repairs around the church and going door-to-door from Saltese to St Regis. THANK YOU, to Preston and his team and the hard work they accomplished this trip. As a result of their door-to-door canvas, a couple has started coming to services and the wife has made a profession of faith! They came for Soup Day today, also. We are excited to see some growth in Haugan... from 4 to averaging 9 to 20+ the last several Sundays (NOT counting the mission teams). God is Good!

Mixon also assisted us in helping the St Regis Community Board set up for the July 4th weekend celebration in the Park. Then we marched in the parade (won 3rd place for our entry which was our red Excursion covered in balloons with 30+ folks in matching T-shirts from Haugan, St Regis, and Mixon TX throwing candy!) We just wanted to be seen, not particularly win an award! And this was only the beginning of a tremendous summer...

Then two days after the Mixon team headed back to Texas, the second team arrived from Fayetteville GA... and we just kept rolling... Glenn Stringham and Jim Battles led the group and they hit the ground running... Sunday night the groups of 37 helped us host a “Party in the Park” for families in St Regis. We had 100-125 attend, thanks to the canvassing by the Mixon group. The Youth Band graced us with a concert, we served free food (hot dogs, pop corn, cotton candy, snow cones, and lemonade) with two bounce houses from the Glacier Southern Baptist Association Block Party trailer which is WONDERFUL, stocked well, and was a great success!!!

And, of course, it doesn’t stop here... Monday began a 4-day Kidz Klub in the Park for elementary children, LIGHT Student Ministry in the Park...

... work projects at the church in St Regis we have jokingly called -- “Extreme Makeover: Church Edition”. Well... see for yourself!

Then there were work projects for the St Regis Schools... this proved to be a tremendous connection to the school leadership, even more than we had already experienced. Go Tigers!

And that’s not all, folks! The sweet ladies from Georgia cooked, decorated, and hosted a ladies’ banquet we called “Ladies’ Nigh Out”! This made us feel so special and we had a good turn out from both locations. It was such an encouraging gift to us!

And after all was said and done... another small group chopped wood for our winter stash in Haugan... and, of course, at the end of the week we spent quality time around the bonfire at Mr. Vern’s place. It was such a GREAT week, so much accomplished, so many new contacts, friends, and relationships... in Montana AND in Georgia! Thank you, Lord, for letting us be a part of something bigger than ourselves!!!

A NEW DAY... A NEW SUMMER!

It’s A New Day and A New Summer!

NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP, HAUGAN...

So much has been happening in the last several weeks, that we hardly know where to start! First of all, we have been averaging 9 in attendance in Haugan for about a year. One of our faithful ladies has been out because her work schedule was changed to Sunday. In the last couple of months we have seen 3 people return who had stopped coming before we arrived. That is certainly an answer to prayer, plus we have seen two more come on a regular basis.

With every blessing we still see at least 5 challenges! Please pray for several people we have begun to build relationship with who are dealing with addictions and serious consequences.

As you may know, Gene and Pam Young have arrived safely in Haugan. We are so grateful for their willingness to serve with us here. Our Soup N More Day is beginning to catch on just a bit more... in the last weeks we have had 2 and 3 tables of folks enjoying the meal, fellowship, and game time... several men in the area who are hard workers have decided they kind of enjoy having a lunch break at New Day! It is a GREAT time to give a casual, yet vital testimony to those who come. One Mormon friend has been asking lots of questions. Recently Alan and Joyce were discussing knowing the Lord versus religion. This lady asked, “So, what IS the minimum requirement?” WOW! Alan was able to share pretty thoroughly about how only Jesus can save us, not religion, not a preacher, or even a denomination... we are praying for this woman to come to know Christ... the seeds have been planted for over a year now, watering has been done, and we are anticipating the harvest... stay tuned!

NEW DAY FELLOWSHIP, ST REGIS...

Oh, My Goodness... the LORD is keeping us alert yet enthusiastic in St Regis! We are consistently hosting LIGHT Student Ministries on Wednesday nights and will begin New Day Kidz (led by Pam Young) and Life-builders for Adults (led by Gene Young) this summer. Gene and Pam are already a HUGE blessing in these ministries.

We had five visiting families to attend the Marriage Vow Renewal service of Jamie and Anita Lewis. [You may remember when we first met this couple, they were separated. Alan encouraged Anita very strongly to come and bring the kids to church and be doing the right things for her family. She came. That Sunday Jamie “happened” to drive by, saw that his family was in church, became convicted, and returned home that very night! They have been faithful in church every week since and have become one of our core families. What a GOD story indeed!] We are hoping that at least three of these visiting families will return, so please pray for them. The Lord is gathering a small army to reach this 33 mile valley for Christ! We sincerely covet your prayers.

Let us introduce you to several people we have met recently. There are Ella (12) and Kay (8)--(not their real names). These two young girls are so precious and being raised by their grandmother. The tragedy is that several years ago their parents were given a choice: drugs or their children. They unthinkably chose drugs and later overdosed! This breaks our hearts… and we are praying for the opportunity to love and minister to these girls and their family. They were all in church this last week and the girls really want to come back, please pray that the grandparents will be open to that possibility.
Another youth we met recently was quite a character, we will call her Karla. She came to LIGHT one Wednesday—came in, got a soda, sat at the table and right out of the box asked Alan if she was allowed to curse in the church? (He was not shocked by that absurd question and let her know that if HE was not allowed, she probably shouldn’t either!) Then she blurted out how she hated this town, this school, and her parents! She said the town had caused her to go to jail and OD on drugs… calmly Alan asked, “Oh, really? It was the town’s fault?” To which she replied with a giggle, “Well, I guess it might have been partly my fault!” Please, please pray for this young girl and opportunities to minister to her!
We are gearing up for a full summer and are excited to host three mission teams this summer, so we are preparing for that and look forward to all that God will accomplish through them for His glory. God is already beginning to bring His increase… in August 2009 we started with 4 in Haugan. On March 20th of this year we officially started services in St Regis, after hosting a Bible Study since September of 2009. Several weeks ago we saw 40 people between both locations—and just last Sunday we had 17 in Haugan and 41 in St Regis! It was a good thing two of these were babies, because we only have 42 chairs!!!

ALISHA AND ABDUL... IN Kampala, Uganda
Our trip to Uganda is getting closer and closer. We actually leave on July 23rd to catch our flight in Spokane the next day. Alisha and Abdul say they are getting excited about our visit—and so are we! They have been trying to move into a new location for their sports apparel shop, their first Terra Nova Academy Holiday Session was a huge success, and they are very busy making plans for their wedding ceremony. We are helping all we can from state-side!
Alisha has asked her Dad to assist in the ceremony, speak at the seminary, and preach in two locations. So, although it will be a special family time, it will still be a mission-ministry trip, too! Please remember to pray for us as we go.

Alana... in Louisville, KY
Alana continues to faithfully serve and work part time in a local church in Louisville, KY. She is also asking the Lord to build a clientele for freelance photography as she continues to write songs and pursue all manner of creative endeavors, but is still praying for a full time job opportunity. She does all kinds of graphics and designs web sites on a freelance basis right now, also. She recently did a photo shoot for an up and coming law firm in Louisville and completed her first video “short film”. We are so proud of both of our girls and miss them every day!

A NEW DAY -- A NEW EXCITEMENT

Montana Missions

May has been another exciting month and it is not completely over yet—there’s still more to come! We were once again privileged to attend the second session and complete our Church Planters Basic Training Journey this month in Missoula. It was a great time of study, inspiration, and fellowship with other church planters in Montana. We almost feel like they are family here for us. There are some wonderful folks God has called to work in Montana and we are so excited to count ourselves as part of the Church Planting Team! Thanks, again, to Dave & Debbie Howeth, Sam Birky, and Rich Ratts for their time and leadership in these sessions.


Another special event was the DeBorgia Historical School Building Annual Garage Sale... our New Day Resource Center took extra time and effort to sort through clothes, set up a booth and give away free clothing during this community celebration. There were 22 total venders and several hundred folks wondered through and took advantage of some of the free clothing. Several of our Haugan members manned the booth, handed out info sheets on both locations, and represented Christ and New Day Fellowship to our community. A HUGE THANK YOU to Wayne & Melba DeGoines, Joyce Goodenough, and Vern Herman for their time and energy for this project.

One of the most exciting things we do every week is the LIGHT Student Ministry in St Regis on Wednesday night! We truly love these teenagers and love spending time with them each week! This month we saw our first student from Haugan and one from Saltese attend. The young lady from Saltese has been back each week, and the young lady from Haugan went out of town to see family in Kalispell. We are hoping she will return to join us! Each week we begin with a crazy activity—hula hoops, bubbles, toilet paper pass, and more! Then after the worship and Bible Study everyone works together to set back up for Sunday services. Please keep praying for our core group: Thomas (will graduate this Thursday night!), Juliana, David, Dallas, Cheyenne, and Maddie. Please pray that Raymond, Jordan, and Gabby will return and learn of Jesus’ love for them. We are planning a LOCK IN this Friday night (9pm to Sat 7am)... will let you know more about it... if we survive!!!


May continues to be exciting as we are having new visitors and meeting new friends every week! In Haugan we have seen six new visitors this month and in St Regis we have seen 13 new visitors! This last Sunday we had 4 visitors in Haugan and St Regis both! Since LIGHT is such an important part of what we do, Alan wanted the adults in both locations to get an idea of what we do each week... so we had a LIGHT morning service—including the ice breaker activity! For Sunday Alan introduced “Zumba LIGHT”! It was so much fun (couldn’t resist a few pictures and in St Regis we were even around the tables), then we rocked a bit with youth music, followed by the study of our LIGHT Core Values—these are meaningful and will help youth AND adults grow in Christ if observed. After lunch the Lewis family met us back at the church to do some yard work and set up our Wii Games and Flat Screens—thank you, Lord, for the generous donations to get this done! As we were working a couple drove by the church, stopped and visited with Alan and Jamie Lewis, asked some questions and said they wanted to visit next Sunday! Well... bring it on, Lord!

We are also very excited about welcoming Gene & Pam Young to the work here in western Montana! They are expected to arrive the last of May or first part of June. We will immediately begin finalizing strategy for summer mission teams and regular ministry assignments. They are such a gift to us and we are grateful to God for sending this fine couple our way! Keep them in your prayers as they move and transition.

Uganda Missions
The first school holiday for Terra Nova Soccer Academy was a HUGE success! Abdul and Alisha were hoping for 40 players and they ended with 47 total on the team! Way to go, Coach Abdul! Their training involves teaching technique, rules, studies on leadership and team work. Coach Abdul was even approached by a national traveling team to play a “friendly” which we would call a scrimmage. He agreed and Terra Nova beat them 8 to 3! Woo-Hoo! Way to go, team! God continues to pour out His favor on this young couple and their work among the children of Kampala, Uganda.
